APTN will be the official broadcaster of the 87th World Cribbage Championship which kicks off in 2020, the network announced.
Thousands of the finest cribbage athletes from Indigenous communities across the globe will converge on Winnipeg for eight days of heart-pounding pegmanship in August.
“To see these games come to Winnipeg, the center of Turtle Island, and of course our network…well, it just makes my heart burst with pride,” said an ecstatic John LaFlower, the network’s president.
“Lacrosse may be the Creator’s game but we can all agree, cribbage is the Creator’s pastime.”
APTN teased some ads for the Championship, including TV spots with the slogan, Cribbage Fever: Catch It. Network execs also introduced the games’ mascots, which include Peggy, Cribby and Skunky.
This is the largest event carried by APTN since the World Indigenous Games in Alberta in 2017 and the Crazy Eight Countdown Cup in 2009.
