Liberal MP urges Indigenous Peoples to be calm, forgiving in stirring address to Trudeau bobblehead

In a stirring speech to a bobblehead of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Liberal MP Robert-Falcon Ouellette urged Indigenous people to be calm following a deeply disappointing criminal court decision in Winnipeg.

“Now is not the time for anger, now is the time for forgiveness,” Ouellette told the tiny statuette, which portrays a smiling Trudeau. “It’s what Mandela would have wanted.”

Ouellette also called on non-Indigenous Canadians to take to social media en masse and explain to Indigenous Peoples why the country’s court system was fair and just, by whatever means necessary.
