A Manitoba Chief suffered neck injuries attempting to wear a massive beaded bolo tie on Wednesday.
Eldon Wasagaming, Chief of the Frog River First Nation, was attending tribal council meetings in Winnipeg when he donned a beaded neck bolo tie that witnesses said was roughly the circumference of a truck tire.
“He really gave it a good go, trying to keep talking and pretending it wasn’t uncomfortable,” said Southern First Nations Tribal Council chair Vern Moneyeas.
“But it was too much, just too darned heavy.”
People in the meeting told reporters Chief Wasagaming was sweating profusely and grunting before he collapsed under the weight of the massive bolo tie, which some estimate totaled 65-pounds.
He was treated for a sprained neck and released.
