An angry Pope Francis used The Force to remotely choke Conservative leader Andrew Scheer for failing to fully quash a motion that would call for an apology for the Catholic Church’s role in residential schools.
“I find your lack of effort disturbing,” the Pontiff told Scheer, slowly squeezing his neck in Ottawa from The Vatican with the use of a invisible, mysterious yet ubiquitous power.
On Wednesday, a lone Conservative MP scuttled the quick adoption of the motion in the House of Commons, which calls on Pope Francis to apologize for residential schools. That motion, however, will still go to debate and vote.
“My Lord, my belief in religious freedom and the separation of church and state are without question,” Scheer told the Pope, when he could find enough breath.
The motion was drafted by the NDP in response to word that the Pope “could not personally respond” to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action 58, which requests the Pope come to Canada to make an apology to residential school survivors.
