Royal Family to name newest heir after famed Indigenous leader Chief Joseph Boyden

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge welcomed the newest edition to the Royal family on Monday, but their choice of a possible name is causing quite a stir.

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace announced that the Royal Couple are considering naming their child after famed First Nations Chief Joseph Boyden.

“It just makes sense given the treasured relationship between the Queen Mother and her Red Children,” the spokesperson said.

“A treasured relationship enshrined in the Treaties.”

Boyden was not immediately available to comment but National Chief Perry Bellegarde — who is said to be considered for adoption by Prince Harry and his American fiancée, actress Meghan Markle — welcomed the news and called it an act of pure reconciliation.
