‘White teachers taught in residential schools, why shouldn’t white profs teach about its history?’: white profs

A group of professors are angry that people are angry that a white professor has been chosen to teach a course about the history of residential schools in a Nova Scotia university.

‘White teachers taught in residential schools, why shouldn’t white profs teach about its history?’ said Mark LeBlanc, head of the Halifax chapter of the Society for Teaching Freedom in University.

“I mean, white people invented residential schools — what would an Indigenous prof know about them, for chrissakes?”

The Society also said there’s so few spaces for non-Indigenous academics in higher learning these days too.
