For the third time on Friday morning, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau anxiously checked his mailbox for Great White Father’s Day cards from First Nations people.

“I mean, I guess it could come after the weekend but I’m pretty sure First Nations would want me to open it on Sunday when it’s actually Father’s Day,” Trudeau told reporters.

“Did anyone see if the mail-people-kind came already?”

The mantel in Trudeau’s office already bears a handwritten card, fashioned from construction paper and written in crayon, from the entire Indigenous Liberal Caucus and an Assembly of First Nations travel coffee mug from National Chief Perry Bellegarde.
