Powwow MCs warn they’re running out of jokes

Powwow MCs are facing a shortage of jokes that could lead to a complete extinction within a decade.

A team of powwow MCs from across North America made the stark announcement at a news conference on Friday.

“Time is running out,” said Clifton Hotamani, an MC from the Short Plain First Nation in Manitoba. “We need help to come-a-running soon or future generations will never know MC jokes. Eeehhhhh.”

Well-known MCs like Nelson Eaglestick and Wilfred Dustyhorn echoed those concerns.

“Holeh,” Dustyhorn told reporters. “Holeh.”

MCs are the announcers who keep the powwow moving along, often through the use humorous comments and jokes. Non-Indigenous participants often compare them to ‘dad jokes.’

It’s unclear what’s causing the joke shortage but experts blame changing societal norms, a wave of powwow MC retirement and overly sensitive and ultra-woke Indigenous hipsters.
