In a bold act of benevolence, the Liberal government is giving a small amount of money to First Nations that has been generated from their own lands and resources.
The funding, $68-million spread out over three years, will go towards health care in communities.
“Sure, it’s your own money and most of it won’t roll out until after the next federal election, but isn’t this great?” said an ecstatic Jane Philpott, federal Minister of Indigenous Services.
“Look at you, all in control of your own destinies.”
The funding will be shared by dozens of communities in three provinces and amounts to far less than the $300-million federal government collected in just two months from tariffs slapped on U.S. imports.
