The company behind the proposed Coastal GasLink pipeline in northern British Columbia issued a stark warning on Thursday, just days after militarized RCMP officers raided a camp set up by Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs who oppose the project.
“We’re all gonna die if this thing isn’t built,” read a statement from TransCanada, which now goes by a new name, TC Energy.
“Every single person in Canada will die just like in that movie Infinity War, except twice as bad.”
The company didn’t elaborate on what exactly would kill everyone in the country but did suggest that it would be very painful.
The warning comes amid news that the National Energy Board (NEB) has yet to determine whether the pipeline will fall under federal jurisdiction, which could put the controversial project at risk.
