A social media beard-growing competition that pitted First Nations communities against each other has ended in bitter disappointment.
“Yeah, we thought we’d have a little fun doing something during the pandemic lockdown but after the first week we realized nothing was happening,” said contest organizer Elmer Meeshigons.
“I think one person actually had less facial hair than when they first started, which no one could understand because they swore they hadn’t shaved.”
The competition included people from 342 First Nations communities across the country. The first prize was a lifetime supply of shaving supplies: one disposable razor.
