New Brunswick hiring wizard amid fears land acknowledgements can magically return land to First Nations: leaked memo

The New Brunswick government will hire a wizard or sorcerer after learning land acknowledgements may actually be magical spells capable of returning land to First Nations in the province.

That’s according to a leaked memo obtained by other media outlets and then obtained by Walking Eagle News during a horseback raid on Friday.

“No one could have suspected that land acknowledgments are actually magical spells capable of returning ownership of land to First Nations,” writes New Brunswick Attorney General Ted Flemming in the leaked memo.

“We must procure the services of a wizard or sorcerer to undo these potentially magical land acknowledgements.”

In the meantime, a government spokesperson confirmed, the province has temporarily banned employees and officials from uttering land acknowledgments.

The province also said they’re already fielding letters of interest from magical folk, and has begun a ‘fulsome search’ of taverns, shady alleys and forbidden forests where wizards and sorcerers are known to frequent.
