Indigenous a capella group Ulali is releasing a collection of songs originally composed by thrash metal band Slayer.
Reign in Corn, Beans, Squash & Metal is an album that features covers of Slayer classics such as Dead Skin Mask, War Ensemble and Seasons in the Abyss.
“We know most people associate us with gentle compositions like Mahk Jchi,” said Ulali member Jennifer Kreisberg.
“But fans who’ve seen us perform live know we’ve occasionally slipped in our take on Angel of Death, or even Die by the Sword.”
Critics are already calling it the greatest Indigenous cross-over musical event since renowned flutist R. Carlos Nakai dropped an album of N.W.A covers in 2019.
