Prime Minister Justin Trudeau defended his recent rabid support for the expansion of Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline — support which far overshadows any he’s shown for fixing water problems in First Nation communities.

“Look, I’m not saying a pipeline is more important than clean water on reserves, I’m just willing to commit more resources for Kinder Morgan is all,” Trudeau told reporters on Tuesday.

“As I’ve said before, no relationship is more important to me than the one with Indigenous Peoples — but when the national interest is at stake, that shit gets put on pause.”

The Liberal government is entering into negotiations with Kinder Morgan and could possibly buy a stake in the pipeline project in its relentless pursuit of seeing it completed, but a spokesperson laughed when asked whether the federal government would purchase a clean water company too.
