Feds kick off National Indigenous History Month by asking everyone to forget history

The federal government kicked off National Indigenous History Month by urging everyone to forget about the history of Canada and Indigenous Peoples.

“This month is the time for all of us to join with First Nations, Inuit and Métis in Canada and to work together to advance reconciliation,” said Minister of Indigenous-Crown Relations Carolyn Bennett.

“What better way than to forget most of what’s happening over the past few hundred years, especially what we promised during the last federal election.”

In an email, the head of the Assembly of First Nations both applauded and condemned the proclamation.
