Rescued Manitoba pups to receive equitable funding, have all-season road, water treatment plant constructed

A litter of pups rescued from Northern Manitoba are being fast-tracked for equitable health and education funding, the federal government announced on Tuesday.

“These pups demand only the best our country can give them,” said a visibly emotional spokesperson for the Minister of Indigenous Services.

“God bless…God bless them.”

The feds also said that Canada is partnering with the province to fund immediate construction of a water treatment plant and all-season bridge and road that links the island where they were found to the southern part of the province.

The seven canines, dubbed ‘Gilligan’s Island pups’ by the media, made international headlines when they were first discovered on a remote rocky island.

Meanwhile, First Nations children on nearby reserves are considering dressing themselves like pups in the hopes of also receiving attention from Canada.
