Legal weed opens whole new world of cultural appropriation opportunities for Canadian companies

The legalization of cannabis in Canada has companies eagerly lining up to give pot products and shops ‘Indigenous-inspired’ names.

“Oh, it opens a whole new world of cultural appropriation opportunities,” said Toronto-based entrepreneur Hank Bijela.

“From names like Totem Tokes to Cree-inspired logos, legalization means we can honour the hell out of Indigenous people on a whole new level.”

Meanwhile, a First Nations company has given up on combating the problem with ‘reverse cultural appropriation’ after realizing no one would consume Angry White Male Kush.
