Indigenous people’s trust in the Liberal government has been fully restored after several high ranking ministers told reporters that the work of reconciliation continues.
The miracle comes just days after that trust was shaken when Prime Minister Trudeau ejected former Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould from caucus.
“Reconciliation is bigger than one person,” said Crown-Indigenous Affairs Minister Carolyn Bennett, immediately allaying any concerns Indigenous people had.
“In fact, if anything, this move advances our reconciliation efforts tenfold, maybe 13 fold.”
Indigenous people are agreeing in the tens of thousands.
“Ah man, I was really worried there for a minute but when Trudeau came out and said that he was still totally committed to reconciliation and then touted historic investments in Indigenous communities, I was like, boom,” said Ernest Nelson, a member of the Monias Cree Nation in northern Manitoba.
“Boom. I don’t even care that he turfed the first Indigenous Justice Minister in Canadian history. Serious. Jody who?”
Everything is so OK that Indigenous Services Minister Seamus O’Regan was able to take a few weeks off from fixing drinking water and housing problems on reserves to work on the Atlantic Accord.
