Reconciliation now includes heavily-armed police: Canada

Canadian officials say that reconciliation now includes heavily-armed police.

The announcement comes as Coastal GasLink has posted an injunction order ordering members of the Wet’suwet’en Nation and their supporters to stop blocking access to its pipeline project in northern B.C.

“Reconciliation is so much more than just blanket exercises and land acknowledgements,” said a spokesperson from the federal government.

“It can and should include tactical units from the RCMP being given lethal overwatch.”

The news was met with confusion by many First Nations, Inuit and Métis people who felt that Canadian Brand Reconciliation™ products always contained state-sponsored violence anyway.

Meanwhile, the RCMP are rebranding their C8 patrol carbines as Reconciliation Sticks in time for a possible second raid on a camp set up to oppose the pipeline.
