Amazon, Facebook Marketplace and sites like Kijiji and Craiglist are moving to ban people using the platforms to resell reconciliation at inflated prices.
“It’s really despicable for profiteers to be doing this in such an uncertain time,” said Rich Gwyn, spokesperson for the federal government.
“Only the federal government should be able to turn a profit from reconciliation, we all know that.”
In some cases, an 8-ounce box of Plain Government-Issue Reconciliation is being offered for 300% more than its retail value.
Premium Corporate Reconciliation, meanwhile, can fetch as much as 700% more.
