Indigenous communities practicing social-distancing are welcoming the announcement that APTN will present the World Solitaire Championship in May 2020.
The news comes on the heels of the sudden cancellation of the World Cribbage Championship amid the global Covid-19 pandemic.
“We were all heartbroken when we had to postpone the Cribbage Games but we simply couldn’t risk people’s health,” said APTN CEO Monique Aisle.
“But luckily for all of us, the World Solitaire Championship has stepped up and is ready to take its place.”
The network said that cameras will be sent to the homes of players, all of whom are practicing social distancing. The games will be beamed to APTN World Headquarters in downtown Winnipeg where it will be broadcast to the nation.
Over 300 Solitaire athletes from communities across the country are expected to compete in categories that include 3-draw, Pyramid, Spider, FreeCell and Klondike.
