BC to host world’s first Reconciliation Games in 2030

British Columbia is slated to host the inaugural Reconciliation Games in 2030, the province announced on Monday.

“What greater province to kick off the Reconciliation Games than British Columbia?” said games committee chair Bianca Pura. “We really, really know how to reconcile!

Although organizers are still hashing out details, they said the games will feature events like the 100-kilometer intergenerational trauma carry for Indigenous participants, and the 30-second land acknowledgement for non-Indigenous competitors.

However, the games are not without controversy. The committee has already raised eyebrows when it announced that in order to build the venues needed for the games, land would be expropriated from several host First Nations.
