Canadian media unsure if senator ‘racist’ or racist

Members of the Canadian media are unsure if a controversial senator is ‘racist’ or just plain racist.

The confusion emerged in headlines on Friday, just hours after senator Lynn Beyak was expelled from the Conservative caucus after refusing to remove racist letters posted to a Senate website.

“Best to play it safe and just write ‘racist.’

Despite all Indigenous Peoples and a vast majority of Canadians — except the racist ones — agreeing that it was indeed racism, members of the media are calling for clearer guidelines on whether things are ‘racist’ or just plain ol’ racist.
