During a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, Queen Elizabeth briefly shifted the topic towards those the Crown signed treaties with a century ago.
“So, how are my Indians?” the Queen asked, the first time the subject has come up in the three meetings she’s had with Trudeau since he was elected.
“Um, they’re fine,” the Prime Minister responded, choosing not to inform her that he prefers to refer to them as his Indigenous Peoples.
“They ask about you.”
The two awkwardly attempted to discuss the issue further before moving on to future royal visits.
