Thousands of selfie-seekers trespassing on Ont. sunflower farm not arrested, shot

It’s being called the Miracle in Hamilton: thousands of selfie-seekers trespassing and trampling crops on an Ontario sunflower farm have somehow not been arrested or shot by terrified land-owners.

“Normally, this sort of behaviour has farmers up in arms — I mean literally — or has led to quick arrests in other parts of the country,” said Lynda Vista, a criminologist at the University of Eastern Ontario.

“It’s inexplicable that it’s only led to annoyance here because if this were Saskatchewan or even other parts of this province, it would have been a completely different story.”

Ontario police refused to comment on this story but local officials insist that the race of the selfie-seekers and the farmers have absolutely nothing to do with anything.
