Casual ‘everyday’ racism remembered as almost quaint: Indigenous Peoples

As blockades and other actions continue to pop up in support of Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs, casual ‘everyday’ racism has cleared way for open death threats and calls for the army to mobilize against Indigenous communities.

“Remember casual, everyday, or systemic racism?” tens of thousands of Indigenous people said on Friday.

“Seems almost quaint now.”

Canadian spokesperson Lily LeBlanc apologized for the lull in casual, everyday racism.

“I know we’ve been busy, but rest assured we’ll have more time to focus on systemic racism once this whole blockade thing settles down.”

Despite the fact that deep, seething, violent Canadian racism is now visible for the world to see on social media, Indigenous Peoples said you still can’t wear a headdress to a concert or hockey game.
